City of Eureka, Del Norte Street Fishing Pier Reconstruction

Client: City of Eureka
Funding Source: City of Eureka
Project Location: Eureka, CA

Over the years, the rugged marine environment of the Humboldt Bay had taken a toll on the historic wood pier at the foot of Del Norte Street.  In need of replacement, Pacific Affiliates was selected by the City of Eureka to permit and, design and develop complete plans and specifications for the pier replacement project.  In total, a 240 lineal foot, all concrete pier was designed and constructed to replace the wood pier.  Additional activities involved reconstructing 500 lineal feet of the Del Norte Street right-of-way as well as the installation of utilities to serve the pier, replacement of the railroad crossing and the repair of 350 lineal feet of the pier approach causeway.  Finished with an exposed aggregate surface highlighted with brick in-lays, overhead lighting and a fish cleaning station, the Del Norte Street Fishing Pier provides the public with a unique recreational opportunity without having to leave the City of Eureka.
