Pacific Affiliates was contracted to complete sediment sampling . Using Pacific Affiliates's proprietary sampling barge and vibracore sampling equipment, sediment samples were collected to depths up to twenty feet below ground surface at various subsurface locations. Sedminet Samples were used to test for a variety of parameters, including, but not limited to heavy metals, PCB's, dioxins & furans and hyrdocarbons. Despite limited access, large kelp beds, and large tidal changes, Pacific Affiliates collected more than thirty samples in one week of testing. Sampling results were ultimately used by PG&E to faciitate the transfer of the channel from Pacific Gas & Electric Company to the Humboldt Bay Harbor Recreation and Conservation District.
